On March 2nd, Καθαρά Δευτέρα, all the students and faculty of the William Spyropoulos School marked the beginning of Lent with a service in our Church. At lunch, our fabulous PTA treated our students to tasty laganes and halva, and during recess, everyone participated in flying kites, a widespread custom in Greece and Cyprus. Although the weather was sunny and warm, it wasn’t as windy as we had hoped, so getting the kites to soar high in the sky was a bit of a challenge. However, our Spyropoulites would not give up, and neither would Father Paul. Eventually we were all able to get our kites in the air! Thank you to our PTA for purchasing the kites and helping us start this beautiful new tradition at our school. Καλή Σαρακοστή!
