On Thursday, June 8th, the whole Junior High School gathered in the gym for another William Spyropoulos tradition: the Senior Game. Before the game started, the class of 2023 made a dedication in memory of their beloved classmate and friend, Joanna, Sophia Ioannou. Father Paul blessed the new chairs and score table, a gift from the Class of 2023 in memory of Joanna, which will be decorating our gym and serving generations of Spyropoulites and Saint Nicholas youth for years to come.
Awards Ceremony 2023
On Wednesday night, June 7th, we had our Annual Awards Assembly where we rewarded our Eighth Graders for all their accomplishments. Every student “reaped the fruit of his/her labor” by receiving awards of excellence, cords, pins and scholarships. During the Awards Assembly, we also had the Induction Ceremony where we welcomed the new members of our Arista Society from the seventh grade. A very emotional tradition that took place at the Award Assembly was the change of the Color Guard during which the Eighth Grade Color Guard for the 2022-2023 school year passed the flags and school banner on to the Seventh Grade students who will be next year’s Color Guard. Congratulations to all our eighth and seventh graders who participated in this beautiful, meaningful and very symbolic celebration of excellence and achievement.
Pomp & Circumstance Procession
On Monday, June 5th, we had the traditional Pomp and Circumstance Procession of our graduating class through the building so that their schoolmates and teachers can cheer for them. This year, we had each Eighth Grader hold the hand of a Kindergartner, and both, in cap and gown, marched through the corridors amidst applause and cheers. It was a beautiful and very emotional scene that warmed our hearts with familial school spirit.
