Off to the Finals!

On Thursday, January 10th, our Hawks beat Saint Demetrios of Astoria in the semi-finals to clinch a spot in the championship game against DGK next Tuesday, January 15th. Two seniors, Paul Argyros and Yianni Lagudis, led our boys to victory. Each scored 13 points in the game. The final score was 48 to 35. Good luck to our boys who will face DGK in the championship on Tuesday, January 22nd!

‘Tis the Season at Spyropoulos

Christmas time is such a beautiful time of year filled with love, joy, and goodwill! At William Spyroupoulos, our students have been very busy. Eight needy families were sponsored, and thanks to everyone’s generosity, we will make some Christmas wishes come true! Our younger students were visited by Santa and our older students danced the night away at the PTA sponsored Christmas parties held on Friday, December 14th. Faculty and students donned their favorite Christmas sweaters on December 18th, Christmas Sweater Day. And, on Wednesday, December 19th we had two Christmas assemblies. All of our students sang Christmas carols in both Greek and English. The third graders were the stars of the first assembly as they presented “A Christmas Pageant,” and the fourth graders opened the second assembly with a beautiful tribute to their friend, Joanna Ioannou. What an emotional and heartwarming day it was!

Student Council Visits St. Mary’s Hospital

The Saint Mary’s fundraiser was a BIG success! Many of our William Spyropoulos families donated items from the St. Mary’s Amazon Wish List which included bedding, electronics, art supplies, musical instruments and toys. Our Junior Student Council boxed all of the gifts and our Senior Student Council delivered the gifts on Friday, December 14th to the hospital located in Bayside. Thank you to all of our William Spyropoulos families for their generosity during this Christmas season!
