Encore! Encore! More Love Songs, Please!

The choir of the William Spyropoulos School presented “Love Songs” to a full house in Sarantakos Hall on May 24th. The students impressed all of us with their beautiful renditions of classic Greek songs. Also, two of our recent graduates each performed solos and a duet. Thank you to Mr. Eleftheriadis and Mrs. Giovanou, the teachers in charge of this extraordinary event!

Saving Our Water… One Drop at a Time

Congratulations to all of our students in grades 2 through 8 who participated in New York City’s DEP 32nd Annual Water Resources Art Contest. A special congratulations to Andreas Ioannou, class 4-315 and Tatiana Markou, class 7-307 who were honored by the DEP at a special ceremony on Thursday, May 24th at the Queens Theater at Flushing Meadow Park. Andreas was named “Water Champion” of the 4th and 5th grade Art category. Tatiana’s slogan and artwork were chosen to be used on DEP material distributed to schools. Congratulations to our artists and to their inspiring teacher, Mrs. Vlachoyannis.

Dancing at the Unity Fair

On May 17th our seventh grade dance group was invited by Mrs. Palesty to dance at PS 88 in Ridgewood. Our students were among many other cultural groups that entertained hundreds of people in attendance at the school’s First Annual Unity Fair. Our seventh graders danced beautifully and made us all very proud as they performed three traditional Greek dances.
